There are  many Clients that would like to see their babes in a longer style yet easier to maintain. Through our consultations and communication with our Clients, we are able to determine the style and look that is best suited to you and your furbabe's lifestyle.

A Shih tzu, Lhasa Apso or Havaneese look spectacular in one of our hand scissored puppy cuts. The body of the  can be clipped to the owner's desired length, then the legs, head and chest are hand scissored to blend and flow with that length.

If a Puppy Cut is perhaps not your style or taste there are also a number of hand scissored layered cuts to choose from. Many of our Clients choose this style.

Not all Clients wish to keep their loved ones in a fancy long hair cut. We offer simple cute and short styles that are easy to maintain between grooming visits and are also reasonably priced. For the double coated breeds such as the Husky, Collie or Sheltie we offer complete undercoat rake outs. These breeds are completely combed and brushed free of the suffocating undercoat against their skin. We allow the owners to decide if they prefer the feathers trimmed short or left natural.

There are many  that suffer from skin conditions and seasonal allergies. We have a vast selection of shampoos and conditioners available to choose from. Itchy  dry skin is uncomfortable and must be addressed with each and every furbabe that we see in the salon. We often see pups with fungus infections between the toes, groin and ears. An anti fungus shampoo can often provide relief between groomings.

There are a number of services offered at Hair of the Dog. It is not always necessary to give a complete hair cut at every visit. We provide a service called a Fluff and Buff which is a wonderful way to have your dog bathed, fluff dried, brushed and combed out, maintain the hair between the pads, the rear end, the groin, the ears, the face and have the nails cut. Some visits require a bath only. Having a bath only involves a bath, fluff dry, ears cleaning and a nail cut. We also provide a nail cut or nail grinding service for a reasonable price as not all dog owners wish to have any grooming done other than nail maintenance. This is just a brief example of the personalized service you will receive when you choose Hair of the Dog for your dog grooming needs.

Price varies on the size and breed of you pet.  Please ask when booking for a price quote

Inclusive to the groom; nails ears and gland expressing!

Hand Stripping

We offer hand stripping or a combination method (of hand stripping, carding, and scissoring) on the broken-coated terriers and other broken or combination-coated breeds. Hand stripping retains proper coat texture and color; clipping a "wiry" coat will dilute the color, soften the texture, and cause the coat to be prone to matting (because of the new "soft" texture).

With hand stripping, results can vary at different times of the year, depending on the stage the dog's coat is in. Dogs can either be maintained at three to six week intervals (for optimal coat growth), or every three months or so. Many owners prefer to have the "blown" coat stripped off just one to two times a year. Hand stripping is extremely labor intensive and, therefore, more expensive, but has benefits not only in maintaining the proper breed "look" for your dog, but also for your dog's skin and coat.
